Hello,
When I try to upload large files (multiple gigabytes) using Apples Mail Drop It always causes my computer to lag so badly the mouse cursor doesn’t move for 30 seconds, beach balls and completely freeze up requiring a hard reboot.
Originally this issue started occurring many years ago when I updated my old iMac to the latest version of El Capitan and now that I have updated my MacBook to the latest version of high Sierra the same issue is occurring. It seems like a bug which causes the system to overload.
When I look at Activity Monitor Kernel_task is using around 100% of CPU. Sometimes mail is using more than 100% cpu. I also used istat menu and found not only was the cpu maxing out but also the ram was overloaded... Mail was using 20gb ram and counting.
I have a 2010 macbook with a clean install of macOS high sierra, 8gb Ram and an SSD. No other apps are running and it occurs every single time I try and send multi gigabyte attachments with mail drop since the latest High Sierra update. It seems like a bug which also started occurring when I update to the latest El Capitan release on my iMac.
I took a whole bunch of screenshots of activity monitor and Istat which I can access later if necessary.
Any help would be much appreciated.
many thanks!
