Sorry if this has been discussed already as the Apple Watch forum is going crazy right now. I ordered an Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Watch with Milanese loop and I live in San Francisco. I already got charged and my status says Preparing for Shipment. I see some here have already gotten their shipping notices and/or tracking numbers for UPS.

My question is my package is getting shipped to my house (hopefully tomorrow), but I would like to reroute it to either my office or to the local UPS store since UPS always delivers to my house after 8pm, but they deliver earlier to my work and store (since store closes at 7pm). Has anyone already been able to successfully change their shipping location with UPS My Choice already and were you able to do it with out delaying the delivery date?

I was able to do this with my iPhone 6 order, but I ordered through AT&T and they shipped it a few days earlier than one day before so changing the shipping address was a bit easier. Of course this one is a bit tighter since it would be 1 day shipping.

Thanks

I called UPS and was told. They could hold my shipment for pickup at the closest hub but they couldn't change that till they actually had the package. So as soon as you get a shipped notification call and have it held, it won't delay your shipment.

Yes I know you can have it held at the shipment facility hub with no extra cost, but my main question is has anybody already had their order rerouted to a different address like a work address or delivered to a UPS store without any delays? Thanks.

Since you can't change it till they have it in hand depending on distance it should still be delivered that same day. Once it is shipped call, change the address and they should be able to give to the new shipping window, if changes for the worse I would cancel the change. No harm done

That will very likely take one extra business day to do. To the hub will not add a day.

I'd really advise against this... I tried doing this once from my parents' house to my university address...and it was a nightmare. Ended up never getting rerouted and stuck at the facility... where it took them an hour to find it.

I'm sure it could theoretically work...but if it's not ridiculously inconvenient to just leave as it, I'd say don't mess with it.

I just got my tracking shipping email from UPS My Choice. It currently only gives me the option to ship package to a UPS store, ship to another address, or deliver on another day. I tried "ship to another address" and entered my work address, but it said that the radius to current ship address is too far so they could not forward it. Forwarding it to a UPS Store says it won't get there until after 4pm.

UPS doesn't give me the option though to have it held at a UPS hub which I am actually thinking about doing so I can pick it up first thing in the morning and then go in to work. If I remember correctly when my iPhone 6 shipped I did have that option. Do I actually have to wait until UPS has the package in had before I can select that option since right now all they did was create a shipping label?

The website doesn't call it a hub. Choose "UPS Store" and look for a "UPS CC". There's one on San Bruno in SF and one on Forbes in SSF.

Any worries that hold for pickup at a hub could cause a delay? Risky to sign up now when the label was just created and Apple hasn't send tracking? Thanks.

Presumably, the hub you're allowed to pick online is where the watch goes before it ever gets put in a truck for local delivery. So you're removing a step in the process and get your watch sooner.
At least, that's what the UPS reps have told me and what I'm hoping! Not gonna lie - even breathing wrong makes me worried my watch will be delayed.

I've had both mine and my wife's watches held at the local UPS facility through UPS My Choice, successfully and without it delaying our delivery date. Both watches will be at the UPS Store on Friday. Since I'm having it held at the local shipping warehouse their hours are only 12-3 so I will have to wait until noon but I would rather do that than have both of them sitting on my porch or possibly miss the delivery.

Be careful there might be a delay because when I was looking at my options I could of had it delivered at a local UPS store, but it said available for pick up until Monday ! Which wouldn't be a big deal ,but I really want my watch on release day of course. So I backed out of that option, and selected the "hub" selection and it said available for pick up 4/24/15, so obviously went with that option. I'm glad I've read the details, if I would of just blindly elected the other store I would of screwed myself over.

I assume you mean you have had another type of Apple product held in the past? ;) Thanks

I heard that holding at a UPS store can delay another day opposed to a hub. UPS notes that the delivery could be delayed even at a hub but it sounds pretty safe based on people's prior experiences. Makes sense if that is where the driver gets the package from in the morning.

It could cause a delay if it was already loaded on to the delivery truck but if you did it in advance you're good.
