I live in NYC, around 9:00 am my apartment intercom rang. Since i am expecting 2 i phones to be delivered today ( one via fedex the other via ups) i ran from my bedroom to my living room to answer the intercom.

It took me no more than 40 sec to get from my room to the intercom. when i pressed the talk button, said hello, got no answer. I figured that maybe someone pressed my bell by accident.

Around 9:30 i get a phone call from my brother. He is pissed because he is tracking his order online and it says that UPS failed to deliver because no one answered the door.

WTF is up with UPS today. @$#@ ring a bell, wait less than 30 sec and then leave :mad::mad::mad:

40 seconds is actually a long time. You must either live in a hella big apartment or run really really sloww.

You should have been expecting it and been there sooner.

You can call and pick it up usually before 7pm though

I opened my door before he got there.

I'm not buying this. I think it took you probably 45 seconds, not 40, to get to the door. That is all on you for being lazy. UPS is ordered to only stand at the door for 40 seconds on a delivery. If you really did make it to the door in 40 seconds, you would have gotten your package.

Next time, try and make it to the door quicker. UPS policy/procedure can't be compromised during events like this (iphone, xmas, etc).

That *does* suck, but the dude probably had hundreds of phones to deliver even in a little section of NYC today. (number of phones) x (30 seconds each waiting) = failure for UPS guy to go home today.

It still sucks though...

Currently waiting for mine in Rhode Island, where unfortunately "delivery by 10:30am" only means I'll probably get it today instead of sometime next week :)

you will get it tomorrow, not that bad. Unless they dont work on saturdays.

I still have hope of at least getting my Iphone 3gs today. The one i missed was my brothers phone.

Mine is still on the way via Fedex :D

call ups and have it held at for a pickup tonight. i do that all the time since UPS is weird at times like that.

Call up UPS and tell them to hold it at their holding center, and that you will pick it up tonight. They will hold if for you.. I work for UPS part-time and they don't instruct you to wait 40 secs.. They tell you to wait until YOU feel like you've waited long enough.

They tell you to knock once, and that's it. I wait 20sec and I never heard of a certain time that we are supposed to wait...

If you want it that bad, find out where it will be after the truck comes back and take a trip out there. You can still get it the same day, albeit probably after 6:30 PM.

Just got mine at 11am, so I'll have to take that back :).

Thanks UPS Guy!

Oh, and I opened the door before he was there... :)
