URGANT - RAM Ordering Question

I'm ordering my first Mac Today
I'm getting the Black Macbook stock for the most part + applecare.

BUT

Should I spend the $157 extra (student price) and upgrade my mac to 2gb of ram.

Im looking to have this computer possibly last 4 years, since its sooo expensive.

Im thinking it might be worth it as i have a tendency to open a ton of applications at one.

My windows desktop normally has
3 windows of firefox 10 tabs each
IE
skype
trillian
gtalk
powerpoint
word (2 copies)
itunes
all open at once.

on my pc here it has 1gb and it handles all that fine but from what I have read its better to feed os x the most you can give it.

Should I go for the 2GB?
Additionally should I be fine with integrated graphics if im not gaming on this laptop.

Jeez I hope im making the right decision buying a macbook / mac in general its just so darn expensive.
 
$157 for 2GB RAM from Apple? I thought it was way more than that. For that price, go for it, you'll want it eventually. My MacBook has 512MB RAM and if I have a few apps open it sucks.
 
I would go ahead and boost it to 2 GB...that's not too bad of a price considering that they do the installation and it all gets covered under AppleCare. You'll be needing lots of RAM for what you want to do.

Also Another quick question.

My parents are helping me pay for my laptop so they want to charge it to their credit card. How do we go about ordering it this way? Will it affect the student purchase?

Should I also get the free printer?

EDIT: Just Called Apples Sales Line, they can conference in my parents to get the billing info and have it shipped to me.
 
Give him a break .. he doesn't have a Mac yet. It's not easy to spell-check in most Windows browsers. ;)

I have firefox 2.0 with the inline spell check, it doesn't spell check the title field for some reason.

Well I ordered!!!! :D :D Backbook with 2gb of RAM
Its more than I wanted to pay but I don't care at this point :cool:
I'm finally getting a mac..........

Anyone got some good freeware applications I should look for that are not on this list

certainly get the apple ram. You get 2x512 stock. so to get 2gb you need to get 2x1gb, which is like 200 bucks at the cheapest. also if you get the apple ram they cant hassle you about the ram upgrade
