Hello everyone,

I am about to purchase a new mbp but I'm confused between those two options;

First one- a high end mbp 15 inch, earyl 2011

http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC723LL/A

Second one- base mbp 15 inch, late 2011

http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD318LL/A

Which one do you think I should go for? A newer one or an older one? They seem pretty much the same except their GPU and HDD. I also do a lot of video editing, photoshop and autocad.

Can someone please explain me why I should go for "the one" ?

And also How important is the age(months) difference at this point?

Thanks in advance!

You can't go wrong with either one, I'd go with the later 2011 model, just because its newer.

It's newer but...

High End 2011- AMD Radeon HD 6750M with automatic graphics switching. 1GB GDDR5 graphics memory

Base late 2011- AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR5 memory

I'd go with the first one, if you can afford it. Better graphics for your work and a bigger HDD as well. The age difference is minimal and means little in this case.

Hahaha I have to buy it by tonight as a birthday gift. This is why. It's just so confusing and decided to ask yall!
I will do video editing, photoshop and use autocad most of the time!
What are you using the computer for? Tell me! Urgent!

Thanks for the answer. Age difference is the biggest question mark I had besides the GPU.

The first one is more powerful so get it. It's an easy choice.

It's my bad I didn't make it more clear sorry about that. It's a birthday gift my parents decided to get me and yes I do video editing and use cad&photoshop a lot. And thank you so much for your answer, I appreciate it! :)
Then tell me why he's saying it is a gift. ;) And he says AutoCAD ... odd, right?

Go with the earlier one then.

Got it:)
See my edit.

I would go with the better one. Age difference is or like you said months difference don't mean anything at this point. They both are 2011 and the first one is more powerful.

I just noticed that high end early 2011 comes with OS X and base late 2011 comes with MAC OS X.

What are the difference between those two? Is it something that I should consider or not really?

Really, lol.... As posted, the first one has more power. OSX, Mac Osx, Osx, Mac Osx, Osx. Its all the same, either will come with Lion...

It'll have lion in it. You can also upgrade it for free by next month when the new one comes out. Again don't worry if it's early or late 2011 what important is the power and early 2011 outperforms the late one. Good price!

Get the more powerful one and call it a day. If your parents are like most they will never know the difference.

Get the more powerful one for future-proofing and you get a 1 year warranty with either or.
