Actually its not me; my friend's MacBook Pro. He lost all his iPhoto photos and those were crucial!
He did not have Time Machine installed and is learning the importance of backups the hard way. (Though Time Machine is not totally reliable for me!)
I advised him to shut down the computer, not to be used till a solution is achieved, lest the files be overwritten. Now I am freaked out to which tool to use. One was "File Recovery for Mac" but that almost sucked. The file names shown were are jumbled numbers (no real file names) and I couldn't sort the deleted files by date; making browsing the thousands of deleted files painful.
So here's what I need;
A good Mac file recovery tool that is easy to use! (Free preferred if possible; not mandatory)
