I've got an A1226 and had to upgrade the hard drive. The drive itself is fine. I can boot the MacBook Pro using that drive over USB or FireWire without a problem.

However, any time any drive is plugged into the Hard Drive cable (internal) it simply doesn't see it.

When I was pulling the old hard drive out, the cable snapped. I could see it was torn across two "wires". I didn't notice until after I tried to boot with the new drive and it couldn't see it.

I ordered a new cable and plugged it in with the drive. Still the issue persists. It simply shows the missing folder icon.

What gives?

Maybe you broke something in the connector on the logic board in addition to the original cable?
