Does anybody know the https:// that the iPad 3G uses for the hook-up when you sign up for your AT&T plan?

Under SETTINGS->CELLULAR DATA->VIEW ACCOUNT is where the signup screen pops up, and my guess is that this is a web form funneled in via https from att.com or att.net or something like that.

It might be better to attack this from another angle.

I have bought a repl@cement micro-SIM card from A T&T, and now want to get it functioning on my MacBook. It would be obvious to initialize the iPad-exclusive data plan on an iPad, and then switch the SIM over into the laptop's 3G modem.

The problem with that plan is...I don't have an iPad.
(And I really don't want to spend $600 on an iPad just to get its data plan, that kind of defeats the cost-saving purpose.)

I'm wondering about booting the iPad OS on an iPhone, and then initializing the data plan in that. Has anybody seen a tutorial for getting "iPhone OS 3.2" (the iPad's operating system) onto an iPhone or iPod Touch?

How would you get the MicroSIM into an iPod touch even if it ran OS 3.2? :p

Try posting on craigslist (sth like 'would like to try iPad 3G, $XX') and meet at a Starbucks or someplace like that and pay him a few bucks+coffee for his/her time.

Or borrow one from your friends if any one of them has a iPad 3G.
