So I bought a US-224, not knowing that it's just about useless in OS X. There are beta OS X drivers, but I can't find good multitrack programs that work with the US-224 for OS X. Do they exist? At the moment I'm using Spark ME and the Ableton Live Demo, but neither work with the controls on the US-224, they're just capable of getting audio through it. Are there any good OS X audio programs available? thanks.

Check out BIAS deck at www.bias-inc.com

In OS X you can use the 224 as a control surface once you build a MIDI control file. I'm sure the OMS stuff for autodetect in Deck is still forthcoming.

I think the control surface works in Logic and maybe ProTools as well.

Either way, the Tascam has very good A/D converters so it isn't shabby as an input device alone.

I'm additionally sure you've discovered the chattering/popping/clicking/stuttering/overmod problem with the thing in OS X.

Go to www.tascam.com and go the the Support/Online Forums for detailed rants from users on this issue.

The new driver is due in "about a month".
