US bought iPhone in Canada

I am upgrading to the iPhone 4 and am going to sell my old 3GS. Right now it is jailbroken with 3.1.2 and has baseband 5.12.01, not unlocked. My friend wants to buy it and use it in Canada. Is this possible?
