I had to open a ticket but they were interested if it was international. That would suck for us military members moving back and forth.

Also for Apple warranty, they are saying it is more international now but they did not allow send in repairs. The chat rep said genius bar appointment but talked about japan stores.....we can't take it to a usa apple store? Because Japan did not care about USA stuff....

Why did you mention Spectrum Mobile? They are a MVNO on the Verizon network. Did you purchase your iPhone 17 in Japan on contract or did you purchase directly from Apple Japan full price?

It needs to be unlocked to use a carrier in the USA if it is locked to a carrier in Japan.

Tried that. Thank you. not compatible. oh well. I tried other imei checkers like tmobile and att and ok. Verizon checker didnt work either. Just a new phone from apple store japan..oh well

That just confirms that the IMEI is not registered in the USA Databases. Have you tried calling Spectrum Mobile, and asking if a rep can add it to their IMEI White list?

You mentioned you paid in Full but was from a Japan carrier or directly from Apple Unlocked for any Carrier?

Their IT department just said not compatible due to global …. Just bought it on Apple Store website as unlocked. No carrier selection.
That would suck for people wanting overseas china only models ..
