I'm off to the states in 2 weeks and am looking to get an iPad Air to replace my iPad 2. I have a WiFi only one at the moment but looking for a cellular one. If I get one in the US can I just then add what ever UK SIM I want when I get back? Does it matter what carrier I buy it with in the US??

Thanks :)

I think reading from previous posts you will need the AT&T version. Try Google to be sure....

Okay thanks, Ive seen that the iPad Air is compatible with EE, O2 and Vodafone over here so i'll probably go for the AT&T and hope for the best!

iPad Air works Globally

An ATT Air will work, but so will a Verizon if you have a hard time finding the former. I just got back from Switzerland and was blown away how well the LTE support was integrated for my US Verizon device. Just popped out my nano-sim, put in Swisscom, rebooted, and I was working as fast as I do anywhere in the States. This rapid adaptability alone is a game changer. Hope you get to enjoy it.

this article clarified things for me:

Very cool Apple :)
