I have some relatives in the UK who would like me to get them a US iPhone as it is cheaper than in the UK. I'm not very well versed in the intricacies of bands and frequencies for cellular radios. Can somebody dumb it down and tell me if any/all US phones will work with any/all UK carriers and the likelihood that they will support UK 4G/LTE?

Thanks in advance.

Both of the iPhone 5s and 5c models being sold in the US will work with 2G and 3G networks in the UK, but they won't work with any of the 4G networks.
