US iTunes Codes in Canada

Hi,

I am looking to buy:

For my girlfriend. Assuming that the iTunes codes are for the US only (I believe these DVDs were available only from Target), can I redeem them with my US account (I made one up to get Skype)?

I have successfully used my US account to download US only apps, such as Skype, from the iTunes store. Will this work for movies as well? The bonus content is free, so I don't anticipate billing being an issue.
