USA Price rebate ???

Ive seen posts on here that iPhone buyers in the US had money paid back to them, im just wanting to know what happened and why?

When Apple dropped the price $200 shortly after launch, they provided a $100 rebate for early buyers.

It was widely covered on MacRumors, TUAW, 9to5 Mac, AppleInsider, and probably every other Mac blog (those are the ones I read daily), so you can definitely find tons more info if you're interested.
