I have a Series 6 Watch, but found a great way to convince my wife to start using an Apple Watch, too - two Series 1 Watches for $20 I found here locally. Despite limited usage since they're older, what should I be expecting? A straight-up watch and not much other functionality?

Thanks all.

Thanks all - she's definitely in trial mode right now, coming from a semi-analog Fossil watch. SE is the next logical step once she settles in, and if she likes the experience... and finds a band among the thousands available. 😂

Quick update, wife can't take the watch off 😂 it works fine and is snappy enough, plus the battery life is pretty stellar. Only lost 7% (100->93) during 7 hours of sleep in Theater Mode. I think she's pretty sold on the concept of a rectangular screen.

Now I've got to find a deal on an SE or S5 before her bday... off to the AI Price Guides!

Found a great deal on a Series 6 40mm in gray with GPS at Walmart (via Google Shopping) of all places, price matched by Best Buy. $50 off MSRP. Wife will be thrilled, and our friend will inherit the silver Series 1.

Final photos of the Series 1 screen repair in-progress (total DIY repair cost of $50, minus some Q-tips and isopropyl alcohol):

Thanks again, all.
