I bought an iPad with Verizon LTE in June and haven't actually used the 4G service yet. I went with the Verizon version as a bit of peace of mind. I have Verizon LTE/CDMA, AT&T HSPA+/GSM, and ... well, if I want to suffer, T-Mobile's GSM network as well.
I had a WiFi iPad and an AT&T 3G iPad 2. I only used the AT&T 3G for about a month because I could either tether or it because something redundant given my habits and usage. The multi-carrier, LTE ready iPad 3 lured me back. Why not?!
Is it worth the $20 to try for a month or is it a total waste of money? I have a Galaxy S III with AT&T I just bought that I could tether to it via WiFi or Bluetooth anytime. I'm not in an AT&T LTE coverage area (at school, yes ... at home, no and for health reasons, I'm home most of the time ...) and I have a MicroCell that helps immensely with my indoor coverage. Verizon has LTE coverage in my area according to the coverage map. I never used Verizon before. I've always stuck to GSM carriers. T-Mobile for a number of years and then AT&T when the iPhone 4 came out. AT&T isn't too great in Georgia. The thing that's keeping me with AT&T is my unlimited LTE plan I'm grandfathered into. Really wishing I'd jumped ship to Verizon and got a hold of a CDMA iPhone 4 back in Feb. 2011 and grandfathered into their unlimited.
When I flip on "Cellular Data", I get two bars of 3G CDMA and a stable connection to Verizon. Does the LTE coverage not show up until I purchase a plan? 1gb enough ... ? Anyone else pay for more than one concurrent dataplan? or try it for a month? I'd appreciate any feedback if you have a similar situation or setup and what they did. Thanks.
