USB 2.0 Hard drive copying files back to HD

I am having a problem with my backup i made a few days ago, I backed up my whole computer onto the hard drive of my 80gig ipod. I used superduper and now i want to put all those files back on my newly formatted internet HD. i have tried just plain copying all the files. It works for a while and then freezes. I have tried using superduper and just making a bootable back up of my ipod on the hard drive. it freezes after a while. Im not really sure what to do now.. please help
