I thought since usb ports are now usb 3.0, should I use a usb 3.0 thumb drive to make a bootable intall of maveriks or yosemite?

I read somewhere that usb 3.0 can be a little unstable.

would it be much faster or better?

or would usb 2.0 be fine? would there be much difference?

anybody?

I meant when one makes a bootable thumb drive to install osx, instead of going through the long download process.

USB 3.0 drives should be fine now.

Maybe there were issues early on, but I tried recently with a 3.0 drive and didn't have any issues.

Recently made a Yosemite install flash drive on USB 3.0 was amazingly fast, definitely worth it.

USB 2.0 is fine and they are cheaper too. The difference in speed is no real advantage IMHO when making a bootdisk.

OP asked:
[[ would it be much faster or better? ]]

In my opinion, yes, faster.
And faster = better.
