Hello all.

I've searched quite a bit on this problem and come up empty-handed, and quite a few of you seem to be relatively savvy compared to the rest of the internets... so lets give this troubleshoot a shot.

The only usb device I hook up to my laptop is my iPhone. Syncing @ usb 1.1 speeds is painful.

I have an IBM T41 and when I plug my phone in to either of the 2 available USB ports, I get the bubble stating it could very well run faster if I only would plug it into the right place -- click the bubble, viola, I do have an "enhanced" usb controller on my computer.

I've tried 1) uninstalling and reinstalling usb drivers & controllers, iphone drivers, itunes. 2) checking BIOS settings for any configurable USB options, there are none other than for bootable USB devices. 3) plugging in other USB 2.0 devices, they run at 1.1 as well.

This is clearly a hardware issue if you ask me, I just don't know where to start. I'm running a fresh install of XP SP3. I'm planning on getting some contact cleaner and spraying my usb port with a bit later tonight, but if anybody else has suggestions I'm very open to hearing them. Please don't ask me if I'm sure if it's running at USB 1.1 or something silly like that - I do work in IT and know what I'm talking about, I just don't know the particular solution to this particular problem. :(
