USB 2.0 support in Panther

Does anyone know if Panther enabled USB 2.0 support in MDD FW800 Powermacs ? There was a rumor 2-3 month ago and someone said that some MDD models have Nec USB 2 chip, but they need drivers to enable USB 2 speeds. Can anyone confirm this?
