Wondering if using USB sticks 3.0 instead of 2.0 make a difference, and if even my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) is capable of using 3.0

I have a couple of sticks that are 2.0, but wondered if my MBP can even use 3 as I believe the ports are 2.0. Does it matter or is it not compatible?

Your laptop has USB 2.0, and since USB 3.0 devices are backwards compatible the new flash drives would work but at USB 2.0 speeds.

You can use USB 3.0 or 2.0 sticks in either USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports. They are fully compatible. The USB 3.0 drives may offer improved performance, even in 2.0 ports.

I wondered if it was worth a shot using them in 2.0 port to see if they are any improvement on the 2.0 sticks I have already, so worth a shot then.

Thanks guys, much appreciated
