Hi Guys,
My main use for the usb hub is for charging, mouse, trackpad and Wacom Intuos Tablet,
Soon found out that my current USB hub, (non powered), was not charging the battery in the Wacom tablet, I guess that the mouse and trackpad, although charging, would be a lot slower

Just for charging the above, would the usb 2 powered hubs be OK?
or should I go for a powered USB 3 hub?
....Gary

Anything powered would be a benefit,me avoid the bargain powered hubs too, those lower quality ones frequently have caused charging issues for me.

Powered USB2 hubs should be OK. USB3 spec calls for higher power, which is beneficial only if you need it. Some hubs provide higher charging current on one or two of the ports, however.

Thank you for the feedback,

Much appreciated,
Going shopping today, will get a powered USB 3 hub if I can, just doesn't appear to be many powered usb3 locally
Regards,
Gary

I'd focus most on the amperage rating of the wall jack. Higher amperage will provide more power for running and charging devices.

Well, not much locally,

Got a powered Belkin 4 port Desktop Hub USB 2
Don't know the Amperage but will do for the time being,
Very cheap, now charging,
Trackpad,
Magic Mouse, and
Wacom Tablet
Will look for better options in the new year,
I just had to do something,
Not enough holes in the back of the iMac :)

I've used the Belkin 3.0 hub sold at apple stores for a couple months. A good performer with hard drives and didn't seem to affect sleep characteristics. It developed a bad connection between the circuit board and ports, however, and Belkin was a PITA to deal with for warranty replacement. Others have had pretty good luck with it.

I realize this is an older post but can anyone attest to whether I'd benefit from a newer powered USB 3.0 hub over my older powered Belkin USB 2.0 hub? I have a 2012 Mac Mini (USB 3.0) and will be plugging at least my Apple keyboard and Wacom Intuos Small Pen/Tablet into the hub.

The older Belkin is working fine but can't seem to find any help via Google as to whether the Wacom tablet will be any faster with USB 3.0 than 2.0. I feel like it lags at times.
