1 x write or read speed is defined as 36 Mb/s (4.5 MB/s), thus 14 x write speed would be 63 MB/s, but then again, 14 x write speeds are probably only achieved for the inner rings of a Blu Ray. It is up to you, if USB 2.0 with its maximum read / write speed of 35 to 37 MB/s is enough and you can live with 8 x write speeds, which would fill a Blu Ray in about 12 to 20 minutes, while with USB 3.0 you might not wait for more than 10 minutes to do so, if you use 25 GB Blu Rays.
