Hello, I have a Dexim LED USB cable to sync and power the Galaxy Note. On one end, it has a micro usb and on the other end, it has a USB 2.0. Are the USB 3 ports on the retina display MBP physically compatible with usb 2.0 devices? Anybody tried to power and sync the rMBP with the Galaxy Note? Thanks.

All USB ports are backwards compatible with the previous generations, you won't have any problems using a USB 2 device on USB 3.

In the past, I read that the USB 3 ports on the PC have a connector type that is not compatible with USB 2 devices. So, Apple made the USB 3 ports on the Mac that are both physically and functionally compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 devices? The reason I am asking is that when I asked Dexim if their cables are compatible with USB 3.0. They said no due to different connector type?!

Yes apple did make connectors that are fully backwards compatible.

The connector on the device end can be different with USB 3.0. The bit that goes into a USB port on the computer is the same.
