I just read that LaCie is releasing a new Rugged Mini drive with a USB 3.0 driver for Mac. They claim that it is 30% faster than FW800. Does anyone know the details on how this would work? Still won't touch TB, but might be nice while we wait for something other than a $1000 raid drive.

Caveat Emptor:

I had a lot of problems with a LaCie 2big 6TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive with USB 3.0 PCI Express Card connected to my MacPro1,1.

Problems included hangs on startup, drive would sometimes go to sleep and not wake up, etc...

Eventually I managed to get LaCie support to admit that they had never tested against a MacPro1,1 / OSX 10.6.8. Returned the unit to Newegg for a full refund.

Spidey!!!
