I was in the market for a new external HD so i went over to the local Best Buy to see the selection. I decided to buy the WD My Book Essential since it has a USB 3.0 connection so it would be "future proof". I currently have a Macbook Pro Unibody 13" 2.26ghz, so i wont be upgrading anytime in the very near future, but when will Apple start adopting USB 3.0? Or is there a reason they will not at all or anytime soon?

The reason USB 3.0 is currently not implemented in Macs, is that Intel has not integrated USB 3.0 into its chipsets, which is expected to happen in 2011 or maybe even only in 2012.

MRoogle is a good tool to search these fora for already existing threads about questions you have. It might be able to answer you quicker than waiting for an answer.
