Usb 3.0?

Hi everyone, just joined the forums today. I'm interested in converting to Mac soon, probably an iMac or Macbook Pro (waiting..) and was just wondering if this:

would work with an iMac/Macbook Pro & if so would it provide improved performance compared to similiar USB 2.0 devices?

Nope. USB2 port in MBP/iMac isn't any faster, no matter do you use USB2 or USB3. Get FireWire 800 instead
