Hey everyone. Been a long time since I got on here. I need recommendation for a good powered usb 3 hub.

I purchased an anker 7 port powered hub for my desk at work. However, it fails to power my G-technologies 1tb portable disk. It tries to power up, but light flashes and it doesn't mount. I'm assuming this is due to not having enough power.

So, what should I get? Most of the hubs on amazon don't seem to have any better power ratings. I would need something at least 1 amp per output I imagine. This one says 900ma per port.

Or if you have a similar drive thats power hungry, what are you using?

Thanks for any help.

I have used this for 2 1/2 years so far without issue, includes UASP support in the hub, and says it support maximum power on all the USB ports. (I have never powered more than 3 mobile hard drives off it this myself, along with both an iPad & iphone.)

The power brick is fairly big for a USB hub, but I hide it in a cable box under the desk with some other wires.

I remember some y cables that were required with older portable hard drives powered with USB 2, I suspect USB 3 has enough power to not require the y cables anymore. You may want to pull the drive out and recase it in a USB 3 enclosure if it is an older USB drive.

I have two 4 TB USB powered drives running on an Amazon USB3 hub. The hub was purchased several years ago. Just looked at Amazon.com and do not see that unit available any longer. It is a 10 port I believe and has worked very well.

Well isn't that special. Can't find it searching their site, but looking at the 4 port version I found the 10 port version. Here is the link:

I bought a psu for my 7 port 3.0 hub on ebay.
Only being used as 2.0 hub as iMac not got 3.0 ports

It has 3000mAh output and 5 tips to fit different things.
it powers my 2.5" external TM drive white a Y cable.
2 USB ports of hub to one on the drive.

No issues.
however connect my Wacom tablet and it rejects the TM drive.
so the Wacom is connected to the USB port of Cinema Display and problem solved.

My USB3 hub and the drives are on their own UPS to protect them. That is a good call.
