USB access keeps switching on/off

I'm having this weird issue with my usb keyboard and usb (wireless) mouse. It's especially noticeable with the mouse. Every few minutes my mouse stops working and I get a pop up telling me that my mouse has been disconnected. It then quickly reconnects......or not. Sometimes it just stops working and does not reconnect. When this happens my wired usb keyboard als stops working, forcing me to do a hard restart. This has been happening fairly frequently and is getting more and more annoying.

This is happening with an Apple keyboard and Logitech mouse.

Any idea what I can do to stop this behavior?

these hard restarts are killing me.
any ideas why my high end mac "pro" is randomly dropping usb access?

Might be the power issue........
