I am using a non US iphone4 4.2.1 on a non US network.

I see the option to tether my iphone under networks. I have used it before on the 3GS but I was trying it and it didnt quite work for BT.. i got the same error as when I was using MyWi4 so...

I am thinking I need to reset some network stuff to start from scratch but I have deleted all the connections theres nothing else I can do... any tips would be appreciated.

ok I fixed this problem. both USB and bluetooth.. basically forget all the devices on the comp and on the iphone... then instead of setting up a USB device on the comp.. set it up under network connections and let it take u to set up bt.... that way it sets up right.

i have both on inactive now but the main point is to do it from this network page dont use the bt setup on its own, it wont connect that way.

Also if you have auto3g on your phone, turn that off and turn wifi off (if you are testing like me)
