Hello - trying to use a usb audio adapter with auxiliary out so I can maintain my one plug, all connected to a hub lifestyle :)

The cheapie one I have from years ago has just enough latency to not allow GarageBand it to work with recording with my midi keyboard in any useful way. Anyone have any advice for low latency and ideally low cost solution? Wouldn’t be against usb speakers if that works as well.

With just about any audio interface you can use Direct Monitoring (Google it) thus eliminating the issue of latency completely.

What interface do you have?

You can get rid of latency by using a thunderbolt interface.
But they're not particularly "low cost".

I'm wondering if there are now USB3 interfaces on the market?

Also, firewire interfaces are known for low latency. But you'll need adapters to connect them.

I'd also suggest you check the forums over at gearslutz.com ...

It's just a little USB A to audio plug I bought probably at least 5+ years ago...maybe even longer honestly.

It looks like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Exte...1&keywords=USB+to+audio&qid=1613925857&sr=8-4

But not exactly this since it's old. Wondering if a newer one would work better or if I need to invest in something else. For what it's worth, no latency when watching videos using that adapter, just while doing MIDI recording through my keyboard. I know it's not the keyboard since it works with no latency with audio out of the headphone jack. Just rather not have to do multiple cables everytime I plug in my laptop.

I use Logic Pro X but have Garageband on my Mac. My Presonus USB device shows up in Garageband but, unlike Logic Pro X, I don't see any option for changing the I/O buffer size, which in turn changes the latency (in Logic Pro X) that also affect MIDI played virtual instruments. So I can't even vouch for the one I have that works great in LPX.

Even if someone has a suggestion you should do your own research into how it will work in GB.
