USB-C buggy on new MBA M4?

Hello there

I went to my neighbors to help him with his brand new MBA M4.

We want to connect the MBA to a TV, through a DENON amp. We use a USB-C to HDMI dongle from Lenovo.

Here what we did:

- MBA to DENON, picture but no sound
- MBA to TV, picture and sound
- iPhone 15 Pro to DENON via USB-C with dongle, picture and sound
- my MBP M1 Pro via USB-C to DENON, picture but no sound, however directly through HDMI, we had sound & video.

We called Apple, they told us to update to latest OS, it didn’t work. We did a new user account (test) and it worked. Restarted the MBA and it worked in the original user account. Restarted again, didn’t work. Switch to test account, didn’t work. Now, nothing is working, we just have video but no sound.

I’m totally puzzled and really don’t see what is not working. Any thoughts? I feel that we are missing something but I don’t know what.

Problem solved with a new USB-C to HDMI adapter. Weird.

As I was reading the description of the issue my first thought was.... replace the adapter. Glad that solved it.
