I just bought a Philips 346B monitor specifically for the USB-C 90W port charging capability for my Macbook Pro (2019 16 inch). So far it's pretty sweet as I only need to connect one single USB-C cable to my Macbook to both power it and to display the second screen on the monitor.
I set the USB stand by mode to "ON", but when my Macbook is on sleep mode, the monitor keeps changing its screen between a "fake" black screen with the "No video input" message, then the message changes to "Enter sleep mode", then a blue screen with the Philips logo. The 3 different screens are displayed one after the other over and over.
Moreover, when the screen is transitioning from the second black screen to the blue screen with Philips logo, both the USB-C port and the USB charging port stop giving power for a second before charging again.
This annoying because the Macbook screen will display that its now charging before going back into a black screen.
I'm not sure if it's the monitor is at fault, its generic cable or the Macbook Pro laptop itself.
So far I've tried an SMC reset without luck.
Has anyone had the same issue?
Edit: It seems to be the same issue as https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/sleeping-multiple-charging-chimes-on-2018.2128793/
