A quick question about USB-C as it is becoming more popular and the accessories I am buying have it.
Some accessories I have purchased come with a USB-A to USB-C cable and others a USB-C to USB-C cable.
When trying to charge accessories that came with the USB-A to USB-C cable using a USB-C to USB-C cable it will not work even with a better power brick. Does anyone know why this is the case?
I thought it would be more of a universal port if we could use any USB-C cable to charge a device.

It depends on the device. Most smartphones will accept any usb-a/mini/whatever to usb-c input and also accept fast charge with power delivery.

I also have a power bank that only accepts usb-c to usb-c input. It needs to detect and negotiate a handshake before charging.

Do note that only usb-c to usb-c supports power delivery (fast charging). usb-a to usb-c or whatever adapter that is NOT usb-c will not be able to negotiate power delivery as they physically do not contain enough wires to negotiate power delivery.
