Looking to see if there’s anything that’ll work with an M1 iPad Air or Pro. I’m on the 8th regular ol iPad, but in light of the new features in iPadOS 16 coming, I’d love an iPad setup that could be connected to a full desktop setup at home.
Anything that’ll work? I could just get a MacBook Air, however the iPad form factor is extremely handy for other things, and I’ve already got a Mac mini M1 anyway.

I don't use a dock but I do use this stand and USB-C hub combo:

KABCON Stand

Anker 8-in-1 USB-C Hub

I use a 90-degree USB-C adapter on the hub cable to avoid the problem of it dangling by directing the cable downward. I use this with the 2021 M1 12.9 iPP.

Edit: I use a Bluetooth mouse & keyboard.

That’s awesome, thank you! Curious; does the Ethernet actually work too?

Logitech makes a keyboard/track pad combo (case type accessory) that is compatible with the Pro and Air models that connect via bluetooth which has some convenient Apple centric keys that requires cable based charging; and Apple makes the magic keyboard that requires no charging at all and connects via the magnets in the Pro and new Air models;… thats what I use… i think you can get the Apple one with a track pad too… with me, I use the Magic Mouse and it works fine… as long as your expectations is not to completely replace the functionality and be like a full blown laptop, you will be fine and like it…

I've already got the Combo Touch from Logitech, which I'd re-buy for the Air or Pro. It connects via Smart Connector, and it's already been transformative for me, in terms of using the iPad as my "computer away from home". Highly, highly recommend.

In addition to what I noted above, I also have the Combo Touch for my 12.9. The stand and BT keyboard & mouse I mentioned are for home use while the Logitech is for away. The hub I pointed to works great with the Logitech.

That's exactly how I'd use it! I'm a musician, so having a musical sketchpad with more flexibility is fantastic.
