Got a BENQ EW3270U, tried to connect via USB-C to my MacBook Pro, 2019, and it just doesn't pick it up.

Tried the Apple USB-C cable that I use to charge... nothing.

Tried this:https://www.anker.com/products/variant/usbc-to-usbc-thunderbolt-30-cable/A8486011.. nothing. what's going on!?

The Apple USB-C cable will not work at all with monitors. It only supports USB 2.0 (and Power Delivery). It won't work with Displayport (the protocol for video over USB-C) or USB 3.0 and later.

So just to confirm, did it come with a USB-C cable, you plugged it in, and got nothing at all? BenQ says it should work with Macs with USB-C and the included cable. Seems like the monitor could be defective (or the USB-C port is defective but the monitor with other ports is fine). Could you confirm the monitor actually works through the monitor's Displayport or HDMI ports? You can easily convert USB-C to HDMI with any number of adapters (including Apple's own adapter that has HDMI).

It also could be a driver problem on the Mac. Make sure you've updated MacOS. If you have the latest, try reinstalling MacOS. I know that probably is not what you want to hear, but software can be buggy, what can I say.

Your monitor came with a USB-C cable. Use that one.

From the user manual:

Problem: No video or audio output from the laptop with USB-CTM connection.
- Check the cable connections and menu settings in the following order.
• Check if the USB-CTM cable has been connected to the monitor and the laptop properly. See
- Connect the PC video cable. on page 13 for more information.
• Check if the input source has been selected to USB-C on System > Input.

Thanks, I did check the manual!

The monitor was a refurb, so it was missing the USB-C Cable 😞

I am using this monitor with Mac mini 2018 and it comes with usb c cable in box if you buy new. it works flawlessly at 60hz. I even tried hdmi cable from my Blu-Ray player and that worked too.
