Hi Everyone,
I recently switched from a 2015 MBP to a 2017 for work and I'm having a bit of a hard time finding a USB-C hub that suits my needs. I'm using one from IOGEAR with an external power supply but I'm looking to buy a spare and hopefully get something a little higher quality. I need to be able to run two bus powered hard drives simultaneously, so I need something with an external power supply and the options are fairly limited. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I also tried using two different powered USB 3.0 A-A hubs with apple's USB-C adapter but both would cut out intermittently. Has anyone else experienced this when using USB A hubs with adapters?
I also have a question about hubs with USB-C power delivery. If you're using the passthrough to power the laptop, will that provide additional power to the hub as well, or will it still only be getting 0.9A total from the computer's USB Port (or does this depend on the model)? Most of the hubs with power delivery that I've seen only do 60W so they're not ideal for my 15", but I work on location a lot and don't necessarily always have access to power and I still need to run two hard drives at the same time. I don't have enough ports available on the computer itself, it'll have to be off of a hub. Has anyone found anything notable?
Thanks!
