I recently purchased a mid-2017 MacBook Pro 13, and it's working pretty good so far. I purchased a
Kingston Nucleum USB-C hub so that I can get the traditional USB Type A ports for my wireless mouse. The hub works great, but I am having one problem. I initially went with the cheaper hubs but they had interference issues causing my mouse to stutter and lag. The Kingston works great without any of these issues.

The MacBook is plugged in most of the time, so I will occasionally unplug the power from the MBP so that I can use battery per Apple's recommendation. Apparently the USB-C hub is always on even when the MBP is sleeping. I put my MBP to sleep with about 50% battery life, and it was surprising to find it dropped to 18% this evening after about 12 hours in sleep mode. I then plugged in my USB fan to the hub while the MBP is sleeping, and it runs fine. The hub is not turned off when sleeping.

Is there anyway that I can turn off the USB-C hub while the MBP is sleeping? I don't want to disconnect the hub since my Logitech mouse with the USB receiver is attached.

I have a Late-2013 MBP with a USB hub attached and like your 2017, my USB ports stay powered while the MBP is sleeping. I see that your hub is powered by the MBP only when you don’t have your MBP adapter plugged into the USB-C power port on the hub, where my hub is being powered by a wall outlet at all times. My MBP can be sleeping for 24 hours with the hub plugged in and the battery may drop a max of 3 %. I don’t think there’s a way to cut power to your hub without unplugging it. Even though it’s inconvenient to return things, you might want to consider returning your hub and purchasing one that is powered by a wall outlet vs being powered by your MBP.

i think it's part of the feature set for USB-C. Your Kingston hub is designed to have power pass-through, to allow charging through the hub. That should also mean that the hub is powered at all times while you have the hub connected to your MBPro.

Unless you need to discharge, even while sleeping, leave your power adapter connected. I understand that you want to use on battery occasionally, just to exercise the battery. Do that, but if you like having the mouse RF transmitter attached, then remember to plug in power when you sleep your MBPro.
