Now that the new iMac is USB C / Thunderbolt only, will Apple Watches, etc come with the cable or need a dongle?

Why would you plug the watch into the Mac?
But regardless, we will all find out in September timeframe, my guess is it will stay on usb-a, watch cannot handle the power that usb-c can do

Lots of complaining when Apple started not to include an actual charger, some people are ok with it, others are not… make your choice, if that prevents you from buying the AW, by all means …
Me personally, I’m on the side where I have so many chargers, I prefer not to get any addl ones, but ymmv

Unless they have a feature later to sync AW with the Mac through cable like it was for iPods, it wouldn't make a difference

Yeah, I don't think any complaints about it make any sense. People are spending either $$$ or $$$$ on a product and complaining that a charger costs $10-20 (depending on if you get USB-C or A). It's silly. Just buy what you need, shut up, and enjoy your device!

(not directing this at either you or the OP - just the people who make a big deal about it)

It doesn’t matter what power USB-C “can do”, the Watch will just tell the changer what voltage it needs then regulate the required amount..

When I upgraded from the XS Max to the 12 Pro Max and found out there was no charging brick to be included, I immediately checked Amazon and Verizon to find a charging brick on sale, before I preordered my 12 Pro Max. I haven’t even used the USB C to lightning cable and charging brick yet. I have tons of lightning cables and charging bricks laying around, so I use those. I even purchased a portable charger box that supports both lighting cables. No complaints here.
