@vannix simple thing is that Lightning is nearly ubiquitous, and until such time as Apple drops it there's no reason for them to switch those over to USBC.
Both devices are quite efficient and rarely need to be charged. If you truly do not currently possess a Lightning cable you can use on the infrequent occasions you need to charge these, the Amazon Basics cables are inexpensive and work well.
(and let's be realistic - the licensing-revenue argument is specious; it's improbable more than a handful of trackpad/keyboard buyers don't already have a lightning cable - thus the use of Lightning vs another port isn't going to generate enough differential revenue to be even a blip on anyone's P&L)
