Just ahead of Black Friday, I was wondering if I should get USB-C or Lightning Airpods Pro 2.

Lightning is cheaper, at A$345 instead of A$399

What are y'all's thoughts?

Decisions on the connector alone depend on your personal use pattern. Traveling right now with a mix of USB-C, Lightning, and mini USB, I am looking forward to just using a single connector.
The other difference is the improvement in chip architecture reducing delay and enabling uncompressed audio. I suspect this will not stay limited to the Vision Pro.

I'd personally go with the USB-C ones, but if your phone has a lightning port and you don't intend to upgrade any time soon, then maybe the Lightning would be better, knowing that if & when you upgrade your phone, you'll likely want to do the same with your AirPods.

I upgraded my phone to a 15 Pro and bought the USB-C AirPods even though my original gen 1 (Lightning) AirPods Pro are still working fine. Plus my iPads and laptop are all USB-C. This way I don't need to carry a Lightning cable with me at all.

Only USB C Airpods pro will support lossless audio with Vision Pro. And we don't know if Apple plan to add new features exclusively to these buds in future or not. So, go for the USB-C

I see no reason for the Lightning. The USB-C are the new ones for the future, I would (and did) go for them. I had the Gen 1 Pros, Gen 2 Lightning Pros, and now the Gen 2 USB-C pros to match my 15PM. No regrets but I hope I won’t be buying any AirPods for a while.

Ooh that's a good point too, maybe Apple will add new features just for USB-C Airpods
