So I purchased the new M1 laptops so I purchased a new external USB 3.0 SSD drive to backup my "older" 2019 Macbook Pro. Not knowingly the SSD drive included two cables (one USB C to USB C and one USB C to USB A), I mistakenly used the USB C to USB A cable that it came with and used a USB C to USB A adapter to connect with my mbp since I didn't realize the USB C to USB C cable was included bottom of the box... Later I disconnected and realized USB C to USB C is MUCH faster.

Out of curiosity does using a USB C to USB A dongle slow down the speed transfer? Or was it simply because my time machine already started the process for the backup?
