Hoping you all can help me as there are several options I've found on Amazon to solve my needs, but would rather just order the right thing the first time.
I have a work MacBook Pro and a personal MacBook Pro. I like working from a single monitor when I'm at my desk with either machine, and that's where I use both most of the time for work, personal projects, gaming, even most of my media consumption right now since half our house is under construction.
About 15 years ago when DVI was still a thing and I had dual monitors, I had these really cool switch boxes that would allow me to switch my setup back and forth without having to unplug cables or anything. I could leave my work PC and personal Mac mini up and running 24/7 and just hit the switch buttons for the machine I needed at the moment.
I would like a similar setup now, but obviously USB-C behaves differently than what I described above. What I'd like is to be able to leave both my work and personal MacBooks up and running at all times, hooked to the same monitor, but hot swappable without me having to touch any cables. Stretch goal would be something with an ethernet port.
Can anyone suggest the best option? Anyone had experience doing this?
