iPad Pro usb c to 3.5 audio

With the iPad Pro I was hoping to get a good "dock" that would handle charging, USB 3 and audio. I looked at some of the more popular models and digging through the reviews, it seems that the 3.5 audio suffers a bit. It also seems that Apple's own "converter" from usb-c to 3.5 is lackluster in terms of sound.

Anyone have suggestions that also meets the need of being portable? I play files that range from 256 AAC up to 96/24 lossless (various formats).
