USB Cable for cell phone

I just received a usb cable to connect my samsung phone to my ibook. The computer does not recognize my phone when I plug it in. Additionally, they sent a mini disc with it. Is there something I am supposed to do to get this to work?

What phone?

Do not put a mini disc into a slot-loading drive. Ever.

First of all, whatever you do, do not put the mini disc in the slot drive of the iBook. It'll get stuck in there for good and will break the drive.

Secondly, what OS are you running on your iBook?

I was definitely not intending to put that disc in my ibook.

It's a samsung t629. And osx 10.4.11.
