USB devices drain battery while sleeping

I noticed that the USB devices I attached to my 2015 15" MBP are draining it's battery when I close the lid and walk away. In particular, I have a USB hub that lights up when connected and a Audient id14 Audio Interface that will power itself. The drain is pretty rapid, about 60% of the battery is used in 8 hours.

I assumed that the USB ports would power off after a certain time, but I guess that is not the case. Is this normal?
