hey guys,
I had a thought this morning.... (uh oh..)
Okay, so I have my mouse and keyboard attached to the USB ports behind my Dell 2407WFP. When I turn off the monitor, the hub in the monitor powers off. I love this! It keeps my 2-year-old from waking my Mac Pro all the time. I have the box going to sleep after 2 hours of inactivity.
The great part of this is that the box wakes up as soon as I turn the monitor on. (I just love that)
Here is my question.
Using HardwareGrowler, I get the notifications of hardware being connected and disconnected. Is it possible to use an AppleScript to tell iChat / Adium to set my status as "Away" when I turn the monitor off (i.e. disconnect the keyboard) and set my status as "Available" when I turn the monitor on (i.e. connect the keyboard)?
If someone can point me in the right direction, I'm sure I can read enough in my new AppleScript book to adapt a script to do this - I just have no clue where to start.
Thanks
BT
