I am wondering, there are a few small, portable displays that can be attached to a laptop via USB - does anyone use those ?

It'd be nice to have an extension of my 11.6 MBA's monitor, just in case I want it for Photoshop palettes or such , and that doesn't take much room in the travel bag .

One example .

Of course, for the same money one could cannibalize a cheap, larger LCD monitor, that would still fit into luggage, but I'd hate to carry around yet another power brick, cable, adapters and such .

Do you have an iPad? If so, you might want to try Air Display. It allows you to use your iPad as a 2nd monitor wirelessly.
