USB Drive problem for my MACBOK

I just got a new macbok yesterday and it is my first mac. But when I embedded my Kensington USB drive, it takes forever to open it on Leopard. Can anyone help me on that?
 
Is it a USB 1 or 2 drive?
You could go to your spotlight preferences and disable spotlight for the drive, but not sure if that's the problem
